Secret Witness is offering a $500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect involved in a Carson City High School Active Shooter Hoax
On September 14, 2026, at approximately 1:41 p.m., the Carson City Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a man identifying himself as being distraught and entering the high school to kill students. In the background of the verbal exchange, operators could hear sounds that were similar to shots being fired. The original call left dispatchers questioning whether the incident was taking place at Carson High School or Sierra Lutheran High School in Douglas County.
Both schools were placed in lockdown while patrols from each respective agency were dispatched. Early after the initial dispatch, School Resource Officers, who are assigned on campus at Carson High School, determined that there was no active shooting taking place. However, Carson High School remained in lockdown status until approximately 3:00 p.m. while searches of the estimated 300,000 square foot campus were completed. No threats or injuries were located at either school. This matter remains under investigation.
